Today is election day in Québec, and in the Fort Whyte riding here in Winnipeg. There’s one other ongoing campaign all readers should know about, though — On The Same Page. With generous funding from The Winnipeg Foundation and the enthusiastic participation of Manitoba libraries, bookstores and media, On the Same Page brings Manitobans together for a shared reading experience. It’s the province’s biggest bookclub! Have you cast your vote yet for the book all Manitobans should read in 2012-13? Before you do, come out and hear excerpts from all four shortlist works at McNally Robinson Booksellers (1120 Grant Avenue) at 7 pm next Thursday, September 13. You’ll also have a chance to meet Martha Brooks, Niigaanwewidam Sinclair, and Sue Sorenson. Then, vote online at OnTheSamePage.ca or by paper ballot at all twenty Winnipeg Public Library branches. The last day of voting is Friday, September 14. Look for an announcement of the chosen title before the end of September! Danielle A Thousand Farewells, by Nahlah Ayed Queen of Hearts, by Martha Brooks Manitowapow: Aboriginal Writings from the Land of Water, edited by Niigaanwewidam Sinclair & Warren Cariou A Large Harmonium, by Sue Sorensen
Still time to vote!
