Kanopy – 24/7 streaming movies, tv, and The Great Courses

There are a lot of options out there to access films and tv nowadays: Netflix, YouTube, Apple TV, Disney+, Tubi, Amazon Prime…and in case you didn’t know, the Library offers Kanopy. If you have an active library card and an email address you can connect to it on your computer or mobile device. And there is A LOT of great content to connect with!

15 tickets a month

As a library cardholder, you get 15 tickets a month. Tickets are used to play videos on Kanopy. You will receive this set number of tickets at the beginning of each month. Your tickets reset on the first day of the month – unused tickets don’t roll over to the next month, so be sure to use them up.

When you log in, you’ll see the number of tickets you have remaining for the month at the top right of the screen.

Note: Kanopy Kids doesn’t use tickets. You can access an unlimited number of Kanopy Kids titles each month.

As you browse for titles, you’ll see the number of tickets required to watch each title and how long you have to watch it.

For titles with episodes, like series and The Great Courses, you’ll also see what content the tickets unlock (e.g., “Season 1” or “all”).

If you’re looking to select titles based on the number of tickets you have remaining for the month, click on SEARCH and then use the filters on the left to narrow your options.

There are more features to explore in Kanopy, but this is a good place to start. Here are a couple of titles to start with – books-to-movies.

Life After Life

But this time, she survives. So begins an extraordinary story of fate and second chances that follows Ursula as she navigates the momentous events of the 20th century.

A Man called Ove

Based on the best-selling novel by Fredrik Backman. Ove, an ill-tempered, isolated retiree spends his days enforcing block association rules and visiting his wife’s grave. When it seems that he has finally given up on life an unlikely friendship develops with his new neighbours setting his life on a new course.
